Models sported bare midriffs on the spring 2012 runways, also a trend last spring. Fabric separation was seen in NYC, London and Milan, not to be confused with a crop top. Crop tops don't typicall lay flat on the stomach, and tend to be worn with unrelated bottoms. This creates an outfit rather than keeping the idea of one piece. In runway instances, seen here, designers essentially created a dress and then cut out a piece in the middle. Don't get confused and interpret this trend with an unflattering crop top.
