French designer extraordinaire, Jean Paul Gaultier paid tribute to the late Amy Winehouse in his spring 2012 couture collection. The entire show highlighted Winehouse's unique fashion sense with models sporting her signature beehive and winged eyeliner. The show has received some criticism, including disapproval from the Winehouse family. Select models walked down the runway looking disheveled and carrying cigarettes.

“It portrays a view of Amy when she was not at her best, and glamorizes some of the more upsetting times in her life,” Amy's father, Mitch Winehouse, told The Sun.

The February issue of Marie Claire US is on news stands now. It's hard to believe that I picked up a handful of these clothes for the photo shoot. Seeing the final outcome is so rewarding. The Louis Vuitton umbrella is amazing and the Gucci dress is just as stunning in person.

Fashion is certainly a vicious cycle. Take the above photo from H&M's "Wake Up Spring" collection for example. To me, the skirt screams Prada spring 2011. While the H&M skirt may not be identical to any particular Prada look, it's all relative, and I'm confident the H&M team drew inspiration from the Italian label. It's essentially the same concept, only at a lower price point and relateable to the H&M consumer.

They say (who is they anyway?) that when you find something you love, buy it in every color. I'm tempted to do just that - I have found the perfect pant: J. Crew's Minnie. The stretch Minnie pant is available in different fabrics: twill, herringbone and wool. There are also versions of the Minnie that are not stretch. I am particularly fond of the stretch twill and found myself returning to J. Crew this past weekend in search of another color. Isn't it fun to say 'Minnie'?

Models sported bare midriffs on the spring 2012 runways, also a trend last spring. Fabric separation was seen in NYC, London and Milan, not to be confused with a crop top. Crop tops don't typicall lay flat on the stomach, and tend to be worn with unrelated bottoms. This creates an outfit rather than keeping the idea of one piece. In runway instances, seen here, designers essentially created a dress and then cut out a piece in the middle. Don't get confused and interpret this trend with an unflattering crop top.

Gwyneth Paltrow turned heads in Pucci at the Emmys. The award-winning actress wore a spring 2012 gown before it even hit the runway.

If you've grown tired of the boring, plain black pumps, consider a cap-toe heel. Cap toes are a runway fixture, even celebrities have adopted the style. Although metallic and black toes are most common, play with color - like this blue-on-blue heel by YSL. Zara and Sam Edelman have affordable options to perfect the pricey look. Also, Chanel proves that cap-toe ballet flats are equally chic.

My favorite red-carpet look came from an actress unfamiliar to me, Cobie Smulders from How I Met Your Mother. Aqua is a great color on her and one that noone else was wearing. The pleats on this Alberta Ferretti gown are perfect for Smulder's body type and the simple, silver accessories were effortless, allowing the dress to shine on its own.

Fashion lovers have a number of collaborations to look forward to this fall. Celebrated designers and fashion houses are teaming up with mainstream department stores to give shoppers a luxury feel at affordable prices, something that many can appreciate with a down economy. Mark your calendars ladies, and find a store (or multiple stores) near you, because I'm sure these items will be hot commodities.
Prestige designer Karl Lagerfeld created a 45 piece collection for Macy's Impulse, their latest contemporary department. Lagerfeld is the head designer and creative director for Chanel and owner of Italian house Fendi, so needless to say, Macy's is lucky to have someone of his caliber on their team. The small, seasonal collection features a color palette of primarily white, black and gray and floral patterns. The widely-publicized collection will be available in stores and online August 31.

Missoni, the established Italian fashion house started in the 1950s, is bringing the famed colorful zigzags to Target. For five weeks you can buy over 400 Missoni designed items at your local Target, everything ranging from clothing to home goods. This isn't the first collaboration for Missoni, they joined forces with Havaiana this past summer designing limited-edition flip flops and espadrilles.

Anna Dello Russo is the editor of Vogue Japan and a respected fixture on the fashion circuit. She recently styled and edited a very small, six piece collection for INC, Macy's in-house contemporary brand. Dello Russo also modeled alongside Karolina Kurkova in the new campaign.

Macy's is having a good year. It was just announced that Giambattista Valli will debut a collection for Impulse the end of October.

Aimlessly browsing for inspiration/what I like to call blog research, I stumbled upon the perfect giraffe print - with actual giraffes. The Dooney and Bourke brand has come a long way from their signature logo and giraffe-print bags. Their leather handbags caught my attention as I browsed the site. Browsing through old vintage fashion advertisements I noticed both similarities and differences. It's neat to compare what the high-fashion brands portrayed then, and the woman they portray in their campaigns today. The new ads are all from Spring 2011 campaigns - I'm assuming you can tell the old from the new.

The Christian Dior campaign has the most drastic change. The vintage is almost black and white, very elegant. The new ad is vibrant and colorful and shows more skin. Personally, I enjoy the vintage Celine ad. This years seems tomboyish, like the clothes are two sizes too big.

Joanna Hillman and Taylor Tomasi-Hill are my new editor obsessions. Their individual styles are a fashion photographer/street-style blogger's dream. I look forward to their Fashion Week snapshots each season.

Taylor Tomasi-Hill makes heads turn with her red locks and cat-eye sunglasses. The Marie Claire editor has perfected mixing feminine pieces with edgier, boyish ones. Taylor has described herself as "a clothing chameleon whose style is constantly evolving." I hope to catch a glimpse of her during my upcoming internship at Marie Claire this fall!

Some of you might recognize Joanna Hillman from her Wardrobe Diaries feature on HarpersBazaar.com. Joanna documented her style through the month of December - I highly recommend checking it out. The Canadian native is always effortlessly polished. Joanna's signature look: fire-engine red lipstick and Ray Ban Wayfarers, with a mix of leopard, layered staples and loud prints.

Unfortunately, I didn't get bronze during spring break. I spent the week interviewing for fashion internships in DC/New York City. As I scheduled the interviews, my immediate thought was: what to wear? Some days I had more than one interview, so I tried to dress accordingly. I wore the same lipstick, the same hairstyle, and the same shoes to almost every interview. The shoes were definitely for comfort and convenience, plus, adding a little leopard print never hurt anyone. The nice thing about interviews in the fashion industry: a three-piece pant suit is not required, nor recommended. You need to show your personality and fashion sense through your ensemble. Let your clothes do some of the talking.

It's no coincidence that I most look forward to Paris Fashion Week. I am especially interested in Paris because my grandmother is from Bretagne, France. A number of the collections had a romantic feel: calmer colors than the bright spring trend, and intricate yet subtle gowns. It was hard to choose looks and call them my favorite. I enjoyed too many of the collections to pick a favorite.

Nothing will replace my love for leopard print, but python is starting to grow on me. There has been a plethora of python in the Fall 2011 collections. I'm not sure about the colored snakeskin, but we'll see how it translates off the runway. The python purse is a trend that any woman can wear. In an appropriate color it's not too loud, and should last a long time.

Award season is a wrap! I have been patiently waiting for the Oscars red carpet, and it did not disappoint. I found myself completely focused on the fashion and almost forgot the show is actually about film making.

This is absolutely stunning. I can't think of anyone else who could look graceful in such a high-fashion gown. The detailed beading on the dress is just enough and the yellow makes it playful. I think it's obvious that Cate understands fashion. By far my favorite gown of the night.

Many may be unfamiliar with Mark Wahlberg's wife, Rhea Durham. A former model turned stay-at-home mom,Rhea looked flawless on the red carpet this award season. I noticed her gown at the Globes and was equally impressed with this tulle/chiffon Naeem Khan gown you can purchase here.

Arizona Muse has been a very busy young lady. This 20-year-old New Mexico native was all over the runway during New York Fashion Week, and now London. Next up: Milan. She had her big break through last September appearing in spring shows for top designers. She has recently been named the face of Prada and YSL. Muse is not just a model, but also a mother to a little boy, Nikko. The two were shot for the February issue of Vogue US donning American sportswear. Muse is breathtaking, a fresh face for fashion.

This cross-body Kate Spade handbag makes me want to travel back to my days as a Brownie (the step right before Girl Scouts.) The Essex Scout bag comes in two sizes, seen stacked here in the colorful Spring 2011 campaign. It's hard to choose one shade that I favor, but I'm thinking orange to add a fun pop of color to any outfit. The 14-karat gold hardware and cowhide leather is a pefect combination. The bag just seems so practical. I know it will be under my wish list for a long time.

A couple weeks ago I did a Spring 2011 campaign post, here. Now it's onto the sunglasses. The timeless large, round sunnies are still in. Will they ever be out? We're seeing more and more of the cat-eye frame, as well as clear colored frames. Seems like there's really no shying away from color this Spring.

The Spring/Summer 2011 Haute Couture shows started in Paris on Monday. I thought it was fitting to start my couture coverage with Chanel's sweet collection. With a mixture of frill, bows, lace, sparkle and shine, Karl Lagerfeld's designs are ultra feminine and romantic. Lagerfeld, once again, finds a way to put a modern twist on Chanel classics. A parade of soft hues: rose, gray and cream, leave a feeling of delicacy and innocence. There were 70 looks in total - here are some of my favorites

When I was in Austin over the holidays, I found the perfect vintage DVF wrap dress. Diane Von Furstenberg created the infamous wrap dress in 1974, almost 40 years ago. The wrap dress is truly a timeless piece that you can keep in your wardrobe forever. Here's some vintage DVF inspiration.

A few weeks ago I made a post called tangerine, here, featuring two refreshing Jil Sander dresses. I decided I had to expand on that post, because Jil Sander's S/S 2011 collection is too fantastic to ignore. Sander's collection is bright and colorful, but at the same time very practical. The powerful outfits are very basic and easy to wear. The color combinations are right on, and something no woman should feel intimidated by. Color should be embraced, especially in the Spring once the sun starts to shine. Jil Sander presented a whole new take on minimalism that I absolutely love.

Style houses really brought their A game this year with the Spring 2011 campaigns. I had an exceptionally hard time narrowing down my favorites because there were so many to choose from. Most ads were fun and flirty, how everyone seems to feel once the sun starts to shine. The two ads that are nameless: Max Mara and DKNY. Four that especially caught my eye: Dolce & Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo, Mulberry, and DKNY.

The zoo opened its gates for the Spring 2011 runways. Louis Vuitton models sported many different zoo animals: giraffes, zebras, pandas. Prada focused on bright, colorful monkeys and their favorite food, bananas. I know that the Spring 2011 runways were long ago, but I just love these images. Brilliant designers have made animals fashionable, without using fur! My favorite is definitely the giraffe.
